Have you ever had one of those moments where life throws a curveball, but instead of stressing… you realize you actually have options?
That was me this week.
Our air conditioning went out. Yep.
And not on a mild, breezy day, on a week when the heat index was 105° and still climbing.
I called around, hoping for a quick fix, but the soonest appointment was six days away. SIX. That’s basically a lifetime when your house feels like an oven.
So, what did we do?
We packed up, booked our favorite little mountain getaway, and left town for some cool, fresh mountain air.
Honestly, I was struck with this overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Because a few years ago, I couldn’t have done that.
I would’ve been tied to a strict schedule, stuck in a cubicle, trying to figure out how to sleep through the sweat and noise of a fan blowing hot air.
Now?
I brought my laptop along, so I can squeeze in a little work on my own schedule, usually in the early mornings when it’s quiet and cool. While my husband takes short walks around the property or relaxes on the deck soaking in the mountain views. We've also been enjoying peaceful drives through Cades Cove before the crowds roll in. It’s the perfect balance of productivity and relaxation.
